Finding Tom Bombadil

Director: Joost de Loo
Renger Koning: Music composition.

Finding Tom Bombadil is a detective documentary about a man on a quest to find his favourite fiction character in the real world. The film tracks the early stages of this worldwide search for Tolkien’s most mysterious fantasy figure. Coincidences and chance encounters lead Joost van de Loo – a holistic detective helped by a host of volunteers, field researchers and advisers - to investigate candidates in Shetland, Germany, England, New Zealand, South Korea, Tanzania, Finland and the United States. After years of searching he realises that the search is only just beginning.

This video shows how Annette Scholten plays the Lame Sonore for 'Find Tom Bombadil'. It is a beautiful instrument that almost sounds like the voice of a Siren.

My Name is Nobody

Director: Denise Janzee
Renger Koning: Music composition.

Somewhere in a small restaurant in Rome, a photograph hangs on the wall. It’s an old, yellowed class photo which evokes nostalgia for bygone times.
Two of these boys would become very famous later: Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone. They were classmates. The photograph has become famous because of this, as well. In every film about Sergio Leone, in every interview with Ennio Morricone, this photograph is shown. But they don’t stand exactly next to each other; there is someone in between them. If you ask “and who is that?”, people are surprised: “That boy? No, we don’t know, that boy isn’t famous, he’s nobody.”
This film is about this boy.

Piet Hein Eek

Director: Niek Koppen
Renger Koning: Music composition.

For a long time, the slogan “Coming soon: Piet Hein Eek” was painted on the façade of the building in Eindhoven before the company opened its doors to the public in October 2010. This building is a dream for Piet Hein Eek and his best friend and business partner Nob Ruijgrok. The whole construction process comes together here; alongside a carpentry workshop, the building has a shop, showroom, gallery, event space and restaurant. Niek Koppen followed Piet Hein Eek from 2009 to 2016 closely in this eventful period. The film tells the story of two friends who built up a small empire that grew thanks to scrap wood. The rapid growth of the company and the challenges it brought, put pressure on their cooperation. In 2015, Piet Hein Eek and Nob Ruijgrok decided to go their own ways. Eek continued the company on his own and took a new path by starting to work for the Swedish giant IKEA.

Bezness as usual

Director: Alex Pitstra

Hafkenscheid

Image

Director: Lydia Tuinman
Renger Koning: Music composition.
